Principle of operation
Principle of operation Photo sensorPhoto sensorMotor rotation is transmitted to the rotor via atorsion wire. Viscous torque acts on the rotorturning in the measured fluid. The torsion wirerotates with the wire in a deflected state at anangle which is proportional to the size of theviscous torque. The angle of deflection of thetorsion wire is the same as the reciprocal deflectionof slit discs A and B which are attachedto the ends of the torsion wire. Each slit disc's photo sensor reads the deflection angle of thedisc and this information is converted into aviscosity measurement which is displayed. Amagnetic bearing positioned at the lower partof the torsion wire provides non-contact supportof the rotor spindle.
